YouTube TV is expanding to eight more cities in the US

More than half the country now has access to Youtube TV

A few days ago, Google announced that YouTube TV is expanding to eight more markets. According to tech sources, its service will now also be available in Albuquerque, Austin, Birmingham, Greenville, Norfolk, Portland, Raleigh, and Sacramento among other cities in the US.

The announcement comes after a recent expansion in June, which brought in cities like Atlanta and Houston. With another expansion in August, which included another 14 cities, including Baltimore and Nashville. The expansions have been steady since the service’s initial debut in April. The slow expansion to additional cities is the result of the update not supporting larger broadcast networks. Reasons like not supporting networks that supply content is also a major factor. Thirdly, not supporting local stations as well, meaning deals have to be worked out for each market.

YouTube TV was initially available in five of the US’s largest cities, and the continual additions mean that more than half the country now has access to the platform. In its efforts to provide a worthwhile alternative to traditional cable, YouTube TV now offers almost 50 networks.
