Batman Day – 1st of May

The unofficial holiday celebrates and honors one of the world’s most well-known comic book superhero. While the origins of this holiday are unknown, the general consensus is that the day commemorates the date in 1939 when the crime fighter made his debut in the Detective Comics #27.

Batman is a fictional superhero created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and published by DC Comics. The superhero who made his first appearance in May 1939 is also sometimes known as The Dark Knight and the Caped Crusader. His real name, however, is Bruce Wayne, a billionaire who wears a bat costume while combating crime in the fictional Gotham City.

Interesting for me because people actually celebrate this day and one of the things they can do on this day is to come to work in their batman costume… I cannot imagine Love Guru or Nick coming to work with theirs but that is something interesting don’t you think??….lol…or maybe Joslyne or Sala coming in Bat-woman costumes…lol….i guess we can just imagine that for now….

But did you know that Melbourne, Australia was very briefly called Batmania? It was named after explorer John Batman.

A fun holiday on this day the 1st of May. #HappyBatmanDay
