Hyperloop – the high-speed transport system backed by Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Three UK routes are being considered for Europe’s first ever use of the Hyperloop. The “North-South Connector” is one of three UK routes under consideration by Hyperloop One. The “North-South Connector” connects London,England with Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.

The Hyperloop could transport passengers from London to Edinburgh, via Birmingham and Manchester, in 50 minutes flat. The same journey takes about an hour and 20 minutes by plane. It is four hours and 20 minutes by train. And even seven and a half hours (non stop) by car. Other possible UK routes include Scotland to Wales, and a “Northern Arc” route connecting Glasgow to Liverpool via Manchester.

Hyperloop works by propelling pod-like vehicles through reduced-pressure tubes. The pods rapidly picks up to cruising speed using an electric motor. Then drifts along on top of an electromagnetic field at speeds of up to 700 miles per hour. The transport system does not require a driver. It is designed to have no turbulence, little noise, and no emissions.

The next step will be to work with governments around the world to build a proof of operations facility. So that in future, the industry can validate its system and get approvals.

The transport system is considering six routes in Europe: Germany, Estonia to Finland, Spain to Morocco, Corsica to Sardinia, The Netherlands and Poland.

Who knows? Maybe in the coming years, it could reach Fiji as well. Then travels from Vitilevu to Vanualevu would only be a 15 minute by a Hyperloop.
