Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s trainer Naca Cawanibuka has praised the leadership of captain Jerry Tuwai, and says that Tuwai’s heart is bigger than Mountain Everest.
Cawanibuka has tweeted that Tuwai overcame a lot of emotions to lead the national side to victory in the Hamilton 7s night.
Cawanibuka says there was great humility shown by Tuwai who missed a full camp week before they left for Sydney as he was nursing his ill baby and had to farewell his late grandfather who passed away recently.
He adds that Tuwai struggled in form in Sydney but lifted his performance to lead the team to victory last weekend.
Meanwhile coach Gareth Baber says it was a tough battle throughout as they beat the top three teams in the World Sevens Series to win the inaugural Hamilton 7s.
Speaking from Hamilton to Fijivillage this morning, Baber says it was a wonderful feeling throughout the camp this morning.
Fiji is now third on the overall World Series table.
It was Fiji’s defence that secured them the title as they repeatedly dominated the breakdowns against both the All Blacks 7s and the Blitzboks and keeping them on the back foot.
Fiji and the rest of the World Series teams will now head to tournaments in Las Vegas and Vancouver before April’s Commonwealth Games.
The Las Vegas 7s will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of next month….fijivillage
