Advisory – 2016 Fiji International Triathlon – Traffic Management

 

The 2016 Fiji International Triathlon, a 100% Events organized sporting event, which is in its 4th consecutive year on Denarau Island wishes to announce the following traffic management plans.

Friday 27th May, 2016

11am – Course familiarization ride. Police escort commencing from Sheraton Fiji Resort through Nadi town.
Expect delays. Motorists requested to drive with caution.

Saturday 28th May, 2016

9:45am to 12:30pmBike race with cyclists exiting from the Westin car park and heading out of Denarau Island from 9:45am.
Expect traffic control to allow bikes through whilst on Denarau Island.
Road closure from Sikituru junction to the Narewa Street lights. All traffic will be diverted through the village road whilst race is on. Higgins have carried out some works on the alternate route to accommodate motorists.
Expect delays. Motorists requested to drive with caution and look out for cyclists.

Sunday 29th May, 2016

7:30am to 1:30pmTraffic control in place whilst athletes are heading out of and into Denarau Island
Traffic management diversion in place at the following places:

o   diversion in place with detour left through side road between Nadi District School and Carpenters Hardware

o   diversion of all traffic heading over bridge toward temple will be to the left (back of Nadi town)

o   left lane (heading toward temple) of Nadi town main street closed to all traffic from 9:30am to 12noon.

HIGGINS together with the support of the Fiji Police Force will be controlling traffic. All motorists are requested to please look out for cyclists and exercise precaution whilst cyclists are on the road.

Note: There will be no road closure on Denarau Island apart from traffic control.
