Ryan will not allow anyone else to speak to team

(Fijivillage) – Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has made it clear that he will not allow anyone else to speak to the team in the Hong Kong 7s.

Ryan said this has been the problem as players get confused on who to listen to.

During the Las Vegas tournament, Ryan kept the players in closed camp to keep them focused on the tournament.

In recent years, Waisale Serevi was coming in to speak to the national sevens side.

Ryan will not allow this to happen again.

Meanwhile the team will start camping again tomorrow before Ryan announces his final 12 players at Uprising Beach Resort on Friday.

The team will leave our shores next Monday where they will play two warm up matches against Spain next Wednesday.

Fiji is pooled with Canada, Samoa and Belgium in the Hong Kong 7s which kicks off next Friday.

  1. Good on you Ben, it’s about time this fact comes out…….Too many cooks spoils the soup. Toso ….Viti!!

  2. Good on you Ben, too many people are there to try and claim the glory but putting their 2 cents in but slip away in the shadows when the team loses. Let Ben do his job the best way he knows and give him the space to do it without interference. Brilliant work done by you Ben and your hard working team.. Hard work and DISCIPLINE has shown results, the men are fighting fit…. Bravo

  3. Ben Ryan is the national coach of the 7’s team has the right to sto outside influences as it complicates his game plan and strategies used for every game. We respect Serevi’s input to the boys as well but when the team loses it is Coach who feels let down and the public blames him for the loss.

  4. i totally agree. Let ryan do what he was paid to do. If he is getting paid at all and on time by FRU.

    LOL
