(Fijivillage) – Yesterday was a proud and an emotional day for Vodafone Fiji 7s forward Pio Tuwai when his name was announced to represent Fiji again in the Hong Kong and Japan 7s.
Tuwai could not hold back his tears as he remembered his late wife and biggest supporter Irinieta who passed away in May last year.
Tuwai said his main motivation during the two week training was his late wife Irinieta and his two daughters 4-year-old Makirina and 1 –year-old Joyce.
Tuwai admits that his fitness is still not up to par but he believes that nothing is impossible.
Giving his support to Tuwai, captain Osea Kolinisau said they are happy to have the lanky forward back again in the national side.
Coach Ben Ryan has made four changes to the team that featured in the last two legs.
23‑year‑old Westfield Babas forward and former Lelean Memorial School student Josaia Wini will make his debut in the HSBC Sevens Series while France based Samisoni Viriviri will join the team in Hong Kong.
Ryan said this is a strong team and is also aiming to defend the Japan 7’s title.
