Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Contestants 2017

The Miss Pacific Islands Pageant was developed by the Government of Samoa to promote the many cultures of the Pacific Islands Region. Fiji is proud to be the host country for this year’s Pacific Islands Pageant which begins on Wednesday 6th December to Saturday 9th December at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Here are your Contestants:

Miss Solomon Islands – Miss Emily Chan

Interesting Fact: The 19-year old Emily Chan is a student of the Anglican-owned Saint Nicholas College in Honiara and won Best Talent Award, Best Sarong Award, Best Traditional Contemporary Award and Miss Personality Award in the Solomon Islands pageant.

Miss Rapa Nui, Tiare Pakarati

Interesting Fact: Her ambition is to study archeology to help preserve the traditional stone statues (Moai) as well as other artefacts on Easter Island.

Miss Tonga, Ophelia Kitiliti Kava.

Interesting Fact: Ophelia Kitiliti Kava resides in Auckland, New Zealand where she is employed at a healthcare facility and won the Miss Heilala Pageant.

Miss Samoa, Alexandra Iakopo .

Interesting Fact: Alexandra Iakopo almost didn’t enter the Miss Samoa Pageant as she ‘thought she wasn’t good enough’. She went on to win Best Interview, Best Talent & Miss Personality.

Miss PNG Pacific Islands, Niawali Anastasia Twain.

Interesting Fact: The 23-year-old Manus and West New Britain lass holds a Diploma in Medical Science and works as a Laboratory Technician. Her sponsor – Paradise Food Limited are providing a scholarship that will help her attain a degree to become a Laboratory Scientist.

Miss Nauru, Angelique Tansy Itsimaera.

Interesting Fact: 20 year old Angelique Itsimaera is the eldest of 5 children and was raised by her maternal grandparents. She is an aspiring journalist.

Miss Cook Islands, Enerstina Pokuil Bonsu-Maro.

Interesting Fact: The artistic Ernestina Bonsu Maro‘s father is from Ghana and her mother is from the Cook Islands.

Miss Fiji, Halley Qaqa.

Interesting Fact: The Human Physiology and Anatomy university major, Halley Qaqa was awarded the best research topic and Miss People’s Choice in the Fijian pageant.

Miss American Samoa, Matauaina Gwendolyn To’omalatai.

Interesting Fact: The Onenoa beauty made a clean sweep of the annual beauty pageant winning five of the 7 awards on offer, and topped the tally sheet to win the crown over five other contestants.
