Remembered every year on May 29, a day to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations for their high level of professionalism, dedication, and courage and to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace.
The Ministry of Defence, National Security and Immigration will paid tribute to all Fijian peacekeepers as we mark International Day of Peacekeepers today in Fiji.
54 Fijian peacekeepers have lost their lives while serving with the United Nations and Multinational Observers in Sinai.
And it is also timely to remember and pray for our current peacekeepers serving around the globe who are now faced with complex, dynamic and difficult situations that have become the realities of contemporary peacekeeping.
976 Fijian Peacekeepers are currently serving with the United Nations and Multinational Observers in Sinai.
So to all our Fijian peacekeepers family and friends, Happy International Day of United Nations Peacekeeper to you and your family.
