Five people have died in road accidents this weekend.

2 separate accidents over the weekend has claimed five lives on our roads.

Two adults and a child died when the car they were in veered off the road at Navo in Nadi on Sunday afternoon. According to Police, the deceased were part of a group of five people heading to Sonaisali from Nadi Town end when the vehicle veered off the road near the Jacks of Fiji factory.

The occupants of the car were returning from a picnic.

And in another separate incident two peoplelost their lives and three others are still admitted in a serious condition at the Sigatoka Hospital after they were involved in an accident on Saturday night along the Queens Road in Korotogo.

According to Police, a private vehicle collided with another vehicle at about 7.30pm on Saturday.

A 58-year-old passenger was taken to the Sigatoka Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival while another passenger, a 22-year-old woman, died early Sunday morning.

The driver of the vehicle and two other passengers are still admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital.

The driver of the other private vehicle escaped serious injuries.

Police are investigating the matter.

While police are yet to determine the cause of these accidents, motorists in particular, and members of the public are being advised to be extra careful when on our roads.
