The South Africa 7s team will win the 2016/2017 World 7s series if they reach the Paris 7s final this weekend.
Their quest for the series title has been boosted with the return of Rosko Specman after the playmaker missed the last two tournaments with injury.
Specman was heavily involved in all four of his side’s tournament victories in Dubai, Sydney, Wellington and Las Vegas.
They are currently on 157 points, 25 ahead of Fiji in second place.
Second place would also provide them with 19 points, which combined with the minimum of one point for appearing in London, would also put them out of touch barring a disqualification.
South Africa is pooled with Canada, Scotland and Japan.
Meanwhile Fiji will play Samoa in their first pool game at 8pm this Saturday.
Our second pool game is against Russia at 11.26pm Saturday and our final pool match is against Australia at 3.14am Sunday.
The medal quarter finals will start at 8.28pm Sunday, the medal semifinals will be played at 12.18am next Monday while the medal final will be played at 3.33am next Monday.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is likely to meet South Africa, Canada or Scotland in the quarter finals, they are likely to face England or USA in the semifinal and can face New Zealand or Australia in the final…….source fijivillage
