Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou has handed over a cheque of 97,500 dollars to the Fiji Men’s National Sevens Team for winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Each member of the team received $7,500.
Tuitubou said the medal incentive is a source of encouragement to the athletes and also provides an opportunity for the Nation to recognise the achievements of Fijians on the world stage.
He said the government has approved the payment for those that won Gold, Silver and bronze medals respectively, at the Commonwealth Games 2018 to be sourced from the Ministry of Youth and Sports 2017‑2018 budget…..fijivillage
