SIGATOKA’S colourful community gathered yesterday to mark the 79th anniversary of its township with a parade through its main street.

School students, civil servants, residents and business owners poured into festivities, which officially began on Wednesday and scheduled to end this weekend.

Sigatoka Town has come a long way since June 1, 1936, with the hard work of former employees of the town, the board members as they were called and later the administration of councils under the leadership of mayors and councillors.

Like any other town, it has grown from just a few wooden buildings into this magnitude of concrete buildings. Sigatoka Town also boasts some magnificent buildings on the hillside which is admired by many who come to Sigatoka.

Congratulations Sigatoka!!
