YouTube is forming up its music offerings with a plan to launch a new streaming service in March next year, according to industry reports.
Competing with the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, the new service would be based on YouTube Red, the current premium offering from the video site.
However, it will also combine the catalogue of YouTube with the massive amount of music available on Google Play Music. Google has owned YouTube since 2016 and has largely left it to run itself.
The new streaming service – which is believed to be called “Remix” – will mix video and audio and give customers a one-stop-shop for streaming advert-free content.
