The Fiji Airways Fijiana Head Coach Iliesa Tanivula has today named a
strong squad for the 2018 HSBC Women’s 7s World Series in Sydney.
In a world first for the HSBC World Sevens Series, the women’s
tournament will be completely integrated with the mens and will be held
across three days from 26 to 28 January at the Allianz Stadium, Sydney.

In the womens 12-team tournament, Fiji face Canada, Russia and
Ireland in Pool C, while Dubai champions and hosts Australia will begin
the second leg of the HSBC World Rugby Womens Sevens Series with
matches against France, Spain and Papua New Guinea in Pool A on day
one.

FRU CEO, John O’Connor congratulated the team on their selection and
wished them well for the tournament.
“Congratulations on your selection into the team for the Sydney 7s. You
have sacrificed a lot over the festive season with your dedication towards
the training sessions. It was not easy but it was something that had to be
done especially since we did not do well in Dubai. The CEO challenged
them to up their game and improve their performance as we build up
towards the Commonwealth Games.”

“We wish you all the best and remember that when you get on that field,
you not only represent yourself and your families, but you also represent
your village, your vanua, your team mates back home, all young girls and
women and more importantly you represent Fiji and all Fijians.”

The Fiji Airways Fijiana team play their first match against Canada at
11.22am, then Russia in their second pool match at 1.44pm and play their
final pool match against Ireland at 4.50pm on Friday.
