Facebook needs more than automated software to improve monitoring of broadcasts on Facebook Live
Facebook plans to hire 3,000 people over the next year. This is to monitor reports of inappropriate material, after a string of violent attacks were broadcast live on the social network. These new employees will review the millions of reports Facebook receives every week. And try to improve the process for doing it quickly.
Facebook’s new job description includes removing content that breaches Facebook’s terms of service, such as hate speech and child exploitation. And will continue to work with community groups and law enforcement. So that they can offer help to users when they need it. This represents an acknowledgement by Facebook that it needs more than automated software to improve monitoring of broadcasts on Facebook Live.
