(Fiji Times Online) – POLICE have confirmed that 2 people have died and two others are missing in waters off Suva.
The deceased persons and the two missing persons drowned while playing in waters off Viria East in Vatuwaqa while two adults were looking for crabs. Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said two adults went to look for crabs earlier today and they were joined by their children. “The two friends went to look for crabs and the four children went after them and started playing in the water,” he said. “While playing, the children drifted away. One was rescued but he died on the way to the hospital. “The water police searched for the three missing children and was able to find the another child, but the search was called off because it got dark. Theywill resume the search for the two missing children at first light today. Insp Sokomuri said other details would be available today.
